Vitamin B-12 is an important part of a balanced diet. It helps with brain function and provides energy. While B-12 is found in most animal products, those following a vegan diet need to take extra care to ensure they are getting enough. Vegan B-12 supplements are available in most natural foods stores, but adding B-12 to your diet can be as simple as adding it to your food, with Red Star nutritional yeast.

Red Star’s nutritional yeast is created to be an edible supplement to vegetarian and vegan diets. It does not have the same leavening qualities as “bread yeast” and has a unique, cheesy flavor, which makes it a great addition to soups, sauces and salads.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Red Star Vegetarian Support Formula (T6635+) mini-flake nutritional yeast (available at most natural foods stores)
  • Spice jar with a shaker top
  • Your favorite recipes
  1. Step 1

    SPRINKLE IT!
    Put Red Star nutritional yeast in a shaker jar and sprinkle it on top of chili, salads, soups, pasta, baked potatoes and steamed vegetables.

  2. Step 2

    COOK IT!
    Add 1/8-1/4 cup Red Star nutritional yeast to your chili, soups, stews and pasta sauces while they simmer.

  3. Step 3

    POP IT!
    For a unique twist on popcorn, skip the butter and salt and instead drizzle tamari or soy sauce over the popcorn, then shake on Red Star nutritional yeast.

Tips & Warnings
  • Red Star Vegetarian Support Formula nutritional yeast is available in large-flake and mini-flake. For most purposes, the mini-flake is easier to use.
  • 2 heaping tablespoons of Red Star nutritional yeast will provide 133% of the daily requirement for vitamin B-12!
