If you want to go rock climbing, consider these various ways to do so and what it takes to be successful. Many people find rock climbing to be enjoyable because of the challenge it offers.     Choose the type of rock climbing experience you wish to have, indoor climbing or outdoor climbing. Indoor rock climbing is excellent for beginners who are looking for true support and training. Outdoor rock climbing is for more experienced professionals who are able to take on the physical difficulties of the sport.

  2. Step 2

    Visit a local rock climbing gym especially if you are a beginner. You will be able to use the gear and training they provide to improve your technique and get used to the experience. A rock climbing gym provides you with all the equipment you need to get started and keeps your protected throughout.

  3. Step 3

    Take rock climbing classes offered by indoor rock climbing gyms as well as some local outdoor outfits. Improving your climbing technique is important for more outdoor experiences that are safe. This gives you an opportunity to have an instructor teach you all you need to know about rock climbing without too much risk.

  4. Step 4

    Purchase the necessary equipment for rock climbing. This will include rock climbing shoes, harnesses and a belay device. This equipment should be purchased for your body's size and should be the highest quality possible. If you don't want to purchase this equipment, you can rent from many rock climbing gyms.
