Things You'll Need:
- Fruit
- Vegetables
- Commercial diet
- Insects

Step 1
Determine what type of food your species of monkey usually eats in its wild habitat. However, it's best to feed the monkey a commercial diet regularly to ensure that it's getting a well-balanced diet. Feed your monkey at least twice a day.
-
Step 2
Provide variety so that the monkey doesn't get bored. Offer different fruits like fresh bananas, mangos, apples and grapes. Also try fresh vegetables like carrots, cucumber, fennel and cauliflower. You may have to try different fruits and vegetables before you know which ones your monkey prefers to eat. Remember to cut the fruit and vegetables up into small bites, depending on the size of your monkey. Also thoroughly wash your fruits and vegetables and buy organic ones if you can.
-
Step 3
Supplement the monkey's diet with vitamins. If you have an indoor marmoset or tamarin, they will probably need more vitamin D3. The monkey may not be getting enough sunlight, which could cause them to develop rickets (bone disease). Purchase a vitamin mixture for primates and do not overdose.
-
Step 4
Supply fresh water to the monkey at all times. Spider monkeys, capuchins, squirrels, marmosets and tamarins prefer their feeding bowls to be hanging.
-
Step 5
Purchase arabic gum for marmosets and bushbabies, because they spend most of their time in the wild chewing on trees to get to this gum. You can put the arabic gum into the trees you have in your home or the trees outside near the monkey's living area.
