Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- A package of hot dogs; there are excellent vegetarian ones on the market, if that's important
- A package of corn tortillas, heated individually
- chopped tomatoes
- salsa, taco sauce
- shredded lettuce
- shredded cheese
- refried beans, heated
- chopped sweet onions
- mustard, ketchup
- dill relish
- sauerkraut
- any other hot dog or taco condiments you like
- skewers to cook the hot dogs
- dishes for all the condiments
- fireplace or grill and appropriate fuel
- LOTS of napkins
Step1
This is a hands-on dinner or lunch for all eaters, ideal for backyard barbecues or picnics. All condiments should be prepared and set out ahead of time on a centrally located picnic table.
Step2
Skewer the hot dogs and have the participants cook them over the coals until done to each person's individual taste.
Step3
Any combination of condiments may be used. Typically, somebody will have sauerkraut, mustard and chopped onions and maybe tomatoes, and somebody else will spread refried beans on his tortilla, stick the hot dog in it, then add shredded lettuce, salsa, cheese and onions. It's a very diverse and partying atmosphere when everybody starts to experiment.

on 7/13/2008 This will be great for when we go camping, or even during hunting season. Sounds different, but also sounds very fun and tasty. Thanks.
