Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- Adobe Premiere Pro
- Digitized video footage
- Black-and-white image
Step1
You will be using a grayscale image to create a Gradient Wipe transition. This sort of transition uses the black area of an image, with each level of gray progressively becoming lighter until the white area is transparent, showing the second clip underneath.
Step2
Go to the "Effects" panel and expand the arrow next to Video Transitions, and go to the Wipe bin.
Step3
Click on the "Gradient Wipe" transition and drag it to your edit point between the two clips in the Timeline panel.
Step4
In your Effects panel, click on “Custom” and then “Select Image.” Navigate to the image you want to use and double-click on it. The image you selected will appear in the Gradient Wipe Settings dialog box. Click OK.
Step5
You can now adjust the softness or hardness of the transition image’s edges by dragging the Softness slider to the left (for less transparency) or to the right (for more transparency.) Click OK when you have completed your adjustments.
