Things You'll Need:
- Adobe Premiere Pro
- Digitized video footage
-
Step 1
While your Timeline panel is active, click on the transition you want to change, and then go to the Effect Controls panel. It is the tab to the left of your Source Clips monitor.
-
Step 2
The edge selector settings will change the direction of your transition. Click on the edge selector arrow within the transition’s thumbnail.
-
Step 3
The Start and End sliders set where the transition will start on one clip, and end on the other. You can move each individually, or hold down the “Shift” key to move each simultaneously.

Step 4
Underneath the Icons is a check box next to “Show Actual Sources.” You can choose to either view a simple graphic or the actual clip sources while you make settings changes. Click the box to use your actual video footage.
-
Step 5
The Border Width setting adjusts the width of the transition’s border. The settings for a border will automatically default to “None,” as borders are optional, and not all transitions have borders.
-
Step 6
Border Color is where you can change the color of the optional border. To change the color, click on the color swatch to change it or use the eyedropper tool to choose a color from another Adobe program source.
-
Step 7
Choosing “Reverse” will plays the transition backward.
-
Step 8
Adjusting “Anti-Aliasing” will smooth or roughen the edges of the transition.
