Things You'll Need:
- Two pairs of old jeans (at least one pair should fit you)
- Sewing machine
- Fabric scissors
-
Step 1
Begin with the pair of jeans that fit you, particularly on top, because that will be the top of the skirt. Cut open the inseams on both legs so that the jeans are completely open on the bottom. Lay them out on the table or floor.
-
Step 2
Determine how full you want the skirt to be. Often the front crotch area with need to be cut open at hem and folded on top of itself. If this is the case then you will need to sew it down this way.
-
Step 3
Now using material from the other pair of old jeans, cut out two triangles that fit into the missing front and back space. Turn the jeans inside out and pin the fabric in place, also facing inside out.
-
Step 4
Try on the skirt (without poking yourself with pins) to make sure it is how you want it to look and fit. Adjust if necessary.
-
Step 5
Once you get the skirt to be how you want it to, sew the pieces of fabric together in the front and the back.
-
Step 6
Now, you have a jean skirt. Make any other necessary adjustments such as hemming or adding embellishments.
