You should start phasing out formula and introducing whole milk at the one year mark. Below are a few tips to make the transition easier.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
Try going cold turkey and changing all the bottles/cups at the same time.
Step2
If going cold turkey does not work, substitute one bottle a day with milk and work your way up or mix the formula and milk while gradually increasing the milk as your child gets used to the taste.
Step3
Try serving the milk at different temperatures. You don't want to be warming up milk the rest of your life but it may make the transition easier.
Step4
Also consider introducing other dairy products into your child's diet such as yogurt and cheese.
Step5
And finally, have patience. Remember this is a new experience for you and the baby.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure you are purchasing whole milk (it contains more vitamins and nutrients than 2 %.)
