How to Use Adobe Photoshop Filters with Pet Photographs

We love our pets and they are definitely part of the American family. Many people hang their pet's portrait right along with the kid's school pictures and wedding shots, so sharing images of one's pets is almost as common as whipping out the Grandbaby book. Got some pet images you'd like to do more with? How about having some fun with them by using Photoshop software to create great new images you can use for greeting cards or to simply decorate your own home.

  1. How to Use Adobe Photoshop Filters with Pet Photographs

    • 1

Start by locating your digital images and open Adobe Photoshop. Open Photoshop, then go to File and Open and locate the image you want to use. Say OK to get started.

    • 2

Crop image if you wish by using the square shaped tool in your toolbox and then going to Image and Crop.

    • 3

Now go to Filter, Sketch and Chrome for a neat graphic arts look perfect for a greeting card. For this one I also went to Image, Adjust and Color and Balance, adding red hue to make it a bit more interesting.

    • 4

If you are going for an Andy Warhol look, go to Filter and Artistic and Neon Glow. This would make a great t-shirt!

    • 5

Finally, for a more traditional and softer change, go to Filters and Brushstrokes and Angled Strokes to make the photo look more like a soft sketch. Nice!

Tips & Warnings

  • Play around with the different filters and Save your new images under a different file name so that you don't effect your original image.

  • Use a photo with plenty of light, you see working on a black cat is a bit limiting, but if you have a great outdoor shot of your pet that would work well and the variety in color would be greater.
