How to make Bosnian/Turkish coffee

Bosnian coffe is in fact far more than just a hot beverage, this coffee is in fact essential to having any social event. In Bosnia, everything from business to a simple conversation would be done over drinking this coffee.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Finely ground coffee beans (powder-like)
  • Special coffee pot called a dzezva
  • Espresso cups (also called fildzan cups in Bosnian)
  • Small spoon
  • Stove
  • Fresh water
  • Kettle
  1. Step 1

    Pour fresh water in a kettle and bring it to a boil

  2. Step 2

    Put four tablespoons of ground coffee into dzezva and pour boiling water over this

  3. Step 3

    Put the dzezva back on the stove and let the water reboil with the coffee in it

  4. Step 4

    Once coffee has reboiled, take off stove and let cool for 30 seconds then add more hot water to dzezva

  5. Step 5

    Before serving, skim the surface for ground coffee bits that have not sunk to the bottom of the dzezva

  6. Step 6

    Serve hot in espresso cups and enjoy!

Tips & Warnings
  • Dzezva is pronounced "dez-va"
  • Espresso cups are called fildzan cups in Bosnia (pronounced "fil-jan")
  • Be careful that the coffee does not spill over, this can be easy with a dzezva

on 12/4/2008 Four tablespoons of fine ground coffee and how much water? It is realy important to have right amount of water and coffee.
Add a teaspoonful of the fine ground coffee per cup.
