How to Select Shorts for Middle School Girls

Going to school and still managing to look good during warm days has become much more difficult because of dress codes. Do not give up hope though, because it is still entirely possible to be comfortable and look good if you know a few things about buying shorts. Shorts are perhaps the most difficult article of attire to purchase because attractive and comfortable shorts are difficult to comply with the school dress code. If you want to discover some good ways to buy shorts and still look great, read the following steps.

Instructions

Go to a mall that has many stores with clothing for people in your age group. When you get to mall, go to your favorite store first. Try to stay away from stores like Abercrombie and Hollister because these places only sell very short shorts. Go to stores that you already know what kind of inventory they have or stores like Aeropostale or American Eagle. Both of these retailers are fairly popular for middle school girls, have good sales, and sell good clothing that is not too revealing.

Head for the sale rack first to check out the cheaper clothing and see if there is anything that you like. The sale racks at quite a few stores have lots of clothes that are still in season and sometimes up to half off the regular price. If you cannot find anything on the sale rack, then search around the store for any other discounts on the items you intend to purchase.

Start looking for the style of shorts that you like most after you have checked out the items on sale--even if you cannot find anything you like. They could be Bermuda shorts that follow the school dress code and are very popular among teenage girls. If you don’t like Bermuda shorts, then try and find a pair of somewhat shorter shorts that still do not expose too much.

Start looking for a particular pattern or design on the style of shorts that you like once you have selected a style of shorts that suits you. Plaid is very popular in the middle schools and comes in all different patterns and colors, so keeping your clothing unique is very easy with plaids. Khaki shorts are also very popular and go well with the school dress code. Beware of short denim shorts. These tend to be very short, they ride up and they are too tight and exposing for school.

Select the pair of shorts that you like, and find the size that you think you will need so that you can go try them on. Take one size bigger than you normally wear and one size smaller than you usually wear with you to the dressing room. Taking multiple sizes is a good plan because all shorts run in different sizes. When you try them on, check to make sure they are not too tight in the back or the front. If the shorts are too tight in the back but fit your waist, try the next size up and plan to wear a belt with them. To make sure that they are not too incredibly short, hang your arms straight down to make sure your fingers don’t reach too far past the bottom. You should be able to curl your fingers underneath the hem.

If the shorts fit well and you like them, go ahead and buy them. Avoid buying overly expensive shorts because middle school girls are growing at a really fast rate and spending too much for something you aren’t going to use very long is a waste of your money. Once you purchase the shorts, make sure to keep the receipt. If the shorts do not actually fit as well as you thought, you can return them. or if they shrink there is still a possibility of returning them for a better pair.
