How to Make Pirate Boots
Ahoy, matey, you want a cool pair of pirate boots. Since they are somewhat difficult to find at your local shoe store, you can make pirate boots in a few simple steps. They can be simple or elaborate, depending on your taste. Here’s how. Does this Spark an idea?

- Felt or leather pieces that match the boot
- Tall pair of boots
- Leather laces (optional)
- Masking tape and pins

Find a tall pair of boots that have no adornments. Riding boots work well and your pirate boot additions do not have to be permanent so you don’t wreck the boot.

Cut a strip of felt or soft leather at least 6 inches thick and long enough to circle around the top of the boot with a little overlap.

Steam or iron a crease lengthwise along the top of the fabric at least one inch down.

Fold the inch of fabric inside the top lip of the boot, with the ends at the back of the boot. Secure with masking tape and pins. Put the masking tape at the bottom on the strip inside the boot and over any pins you use to further secure them in place and make sure you don’t get poked.

Secure the overlapping fabric by making holes for laces simply stitching the two sides together.

Tips & Warnings
To make the pirate boots more permanent, choose leather over felt and stitch the top lip of fabric into place inside the boot.
If you want to get more elaborate, you can add a buckle or two or even paint skulls and crossbones on the side of the boot.
