Whether you're short on envelopes, you want to make envelopes for a special occasion or you just want to recycle old magazines, here is a great tutorial on how to make envelopes.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Envelope
  • Piece of stiff cardboard
  • Magazine pages
  • Scissors
  • Clear craft glue or tape
  1. Step 1

Make a template for your envelopes. Carefully open up your envelope and trace the shape of the opened page onto the cardboard page. This is your template to help you make all future envelopes.

  2. Step 2

Find an appropriate page for your envelope. Just about any advertisement page in a magazine will do. You can even choose to use a page full of text. Just try to match the page you choose to the occasion or person you are sending it to.

  3. Step 3

Transfer your template shape onto the magazine page and cut it out. Tape the template in place to keep it straight.

  4. Step 4

Fold your cutout envelope using the original envelope as a guide. Glue or tape it in place. Add address labels to your envelope.

  5. Step 5

Place template and old envelope into a sealable plastic bag and save it for future use.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you want your envelope to be noticed out of a sea of envelopes, this is a good way to make it stand out.
