Cooking for yourself doesn't have to mean fast junk food or eating out of a can or microwave container over the kitchen sink. With just a little prep on your part, you can eat like a gourmet in no time. And -- learn to make some snappy dishes that will impress your next date, too! This time, we'll learn how to whip-up an all-time favorite that can also help you clean-up some leftovers in your refrigerator: Pork Fried Rice. Let's Go!

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Note: For a REAL taste treat, and better health, buy all your ingredients organic, the taste is way better. I've listed some web sites below to help out.
  • 1 tbsp diced green onions
  • 2 tbsp peanut oil
  • 1/4 cup diced cooked pork (leftovers are great here!)
  • 1/4 cup diced cooked vegetables (peas, broccoli florets, bean sprouts, diced carrots, green beans, etc. Go wild, mix-and-match.)
  • 1 cup cooked rice, cold
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 tsp soy sauce
  • A dash of minced garlic

Step1
Place the peanut oil in a saute pan and saute the green onion and garlic until tender.
Step2
Add the good stuff: pork, veggies, and rice and stir-fry them, turning frequently, until heated through.
Step3
Now add the egg and soy sauce to this mix, and cook until the egg firms-up, and you're happy with the overall look/taste.
Step4
Slide the mixture into a nice wide bowl, keep some additional soy sauce on hand for additional flavor dashes, and enjoy your healthy (and GOOD!) gourmet dish for one!

Tips & Warnings

  • Use reduced sodium soy sauce for a bit less salt.
  • Other oil (canola, olive) will work as well, but peanut oil gives this dish a nice (and different) taste.
