Bunco...a dice game girlfriends love!
Bunco...a dice game girlfriends love!

Summertime means vacations, BBQs, family reunions, sporting games and more. It also means a time to get together with friends with fun and what is a better way to have fun than to get with a few girlfriends and play a game of Bunco. Many people have always wanted to play Bunco but never have tried. It is quite easy and after following and learning these rules, you will be on your way to not only hosting one but a few Bunco games. So pull up a chair to read this and once you're done, call your friends to say "let's get ready to roll!"

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Bunco Game (only because it is 2008, we'll assume you update your board games, too)
  • 3-Card tables
  • 12 Chairs
  • 11 friends
  1. Step 1

First set up your card tables. You will need to have three tables with four chairs at each one. Every individual will receive a tally sheet, a bunco pencil, and a bunco score sheet. Each table should have three dice set on it. One table needs to be established as the head table. The head table holds the bell and fuzzy dice (or Bunco hat).

  2. Step 2

In Bunco you have no regular partner so anyone who sits across from you should be viewed as your temporary partner for that time. To begin Bunco someone from the head table will ring the bell and call out the number which is being played. Example, the first roll will be ONE. All tables start to play bunco at the same time. The first player at each table roles all three dice and earns a point for each one rolled. Play continues with that player until she no longer rolls a one.

  3. Step 3

Once the first player stops rolling a one, the dice are passed to the next player and her goal then becomes to roll ones as well . If any player rolls 3 ones, she will shout "bunco", and receive the fuzzy dice or Bunco hat, and also receive 21 points on her bunko score card. Five points are also earned by rolling a "mini-bunco" which is 3-of-a-kind, of any other number.

  4. Step 4

Once one of the teams at the head table reaches 21, the head table rings the bell loudly, everyone stops playing and people trade places and tables. If you are on the losing team, the person sitting across from you will move with you to the next table, but will not be your partner for the next roll. If you are the winning team, you or your partner will move over a seat, making room for your each of your new partners moving over from another table.

  5. Step 5

After everyone moves, someone from the head table will ring the bell again and the bunco play will resume. Now you will be rolling two's and this repeats until all numbers through six get rolled and played.

  6. Step 6

The final step is the fun part...the prizes. There are prizes for most Buncos, most mini-Buncos, most wins and most losses. See even if you are the biggest loser, in Bunco you can be a winner. Prizes consists of whatever the host and players have agreed to: money, gifts, etc. Before leaving, decide when and where the next Bunco game will be held!

Tips & Warnings
  • In place of the fuzzy dice, you may elect to have a Bunco hat. The person who wins the most Bunco is responsible for taking it home to embellish and return at the next Bunco game.
  • This game can be addicting. Have fun and play often!
