Raising tadpoles is very easy, fun, and educational. So take a chance at these awesome creatures.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Container (Aquarium, Fishbowl, Plastic Garbage Bin, Padding Pool, Garden Pond...)
  • Stream/Pond Water or Water Conditioner
  • Lettuce
  • Floating Platform
  • Bloodworm

Step1
Keep the container in 3/4 shade.
Step2
Tadpoles depend on fresh water. Use stream/pond water or add some water conditioner and use tap water.
Step3
Boil the lettuce for 10 to 15 minutes and then drain it. Chop it up a little, and then you can lay it on a tray to freeze it. For average home ponds, use an icecube tray- 1 cube every couple of days should be enough. For smaller tanks, just lay some flat on a tray and freeze it, and keep it in a baggie in the freezer. Give the tadpoles a pinch every few days.
Step4
The length of development takes 6 to 12 weeks when the tadpoles starts to develop legs they will start to climb on the floating platform. Feed them bloodworm now.
Step5
Change the water when they seem dirty.
Step6
Keep the water level no more than 3 inches.

Tips & Warnings

  • You could use a filter to reduce the amount of water changes, it's optional.
  • Some tadpoles (Bullfrog) takes 2 years to develop into a frog, it takes patience.
  • Do not handle tadpoles
