During the personal interview the judges pay as much attention to your hands as they do to your face, especially if the judge is a female person. You will be using your hands to make gestures and emphasize key points as you speak. Therefore, it is very important to choose your nail polish wisely.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Choose a pale shade of polish for your nails, such as neutral beige or light pink. A French manicure, pink and whites or neutral and whites is also good. These colors will not clash with any of your outfits and the judges will think you gave enough thought to your overall appearance.

  2. Step 2

Stay away from bold colors. While a bold color may compliment your evening gown, changing colors during pageant week is unnecessary work to have to go through. Besides healthier nails are more apparent though pale shades.

  3. Step 3

Choose a short comfortable length. You will be rehearsing and doing a number of activities during pageant week, so with nails is best to keep them short and sweet.

  4. Step 4

If you bite your nails, you can consider having professional nail tips done or silk wraps if your nails break easily.

  5. Step 5

Protect your nails. Do not use them as tools to dial a telephone, scrape things or tap on surfaces.

Tips & Warnings
  • Have extra polish with you for touch-ups.
  • Artificial tips if applied improperly can break easily at the place where they are glued or lead to nail fungus.
