The bigger the pageant, the more press it will generate. Not only will last year’s Queen will be interviewed, but pageant contestants get interviewed as well. Use this opportunity to your advantage. Good press coverage is valuable, and it may just take you to win the crown.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Have in mind a platform, a particular cause you want to raise awareness of, or phrases that you may want to use. You won’t have ample time to answer questions the press may ask you, so having a message you want to convey to the public will help. A reporter will not necessarily try to make you look good; you have to do that for yourself.

Never say anything negative about another contestant or the pageant system. If you are asked for gossip and give it to them, this information will reflect negatively upon you. Think of something innocent enough to say, that will be taken lightly.

  3. Step 3

Talk positive about yourself. Mention your achievements, involvements with the community and any volunteer or charity work you may have done. Judges love choosing a contestant who generous and has a kind heart.

Don’t let anyone, the press or another contestant convince you into saying something you don’t want to say. What you say today, may haunt you in the future.

  5. Step 5

A beauty queen is not part of the problem, but part of the solution. If you have any problems in your life or during the pageant, work them out at home or behind the scenes. A reporter is not obligated to use everything you say, and may just report a careless statement you made thus reflecting negatively upon you.
