Who doesn't like chocolate chip cookies? Here's an easy way to make them without baking pan after pan of cookies. Try these and you'll never do it any other way! Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • Mixer
  • 1 cup butter-flavored shortening
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 1/4 cups cake flour
  • 1/2 tsp. kosher salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 11" by 15" jelly roll pan
  • Non-stick baking spray

Instructions

      Sift together the cake flour, salt and baking powder and set aside.

      Combine the shortening, sugar and brown sugar in the mixer's work bowl, and cream it until it is light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time to the creamed mixture. Then add vanilla. Increase the speed until it is thoroughly incorporated.

      With the mixer set to low, slowly add the dry ingredients to the shortening and combine well. Stir in the chocolate chips. Chill the dough for an hour.

      Heat the oven to 375 degrees F. Spray baking pan with non-stick spray. Turn the chilled dough into the pan. Flour or grease your hands and spread the dough as evenly as possible in the pan, taking care to make the middle and corners level with each other.

      Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown. Turn the pan around halfway through the baking time.

      Allow the bars to cool before cutting, if you can stand it.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can also add 1 cup of chopped nuts to this recipe.

  • Baking time will vary depending upon how long it takes you to spread the dough. Start checking at 15 minutes, then keep an eye on it.
