An archery field point is used for practice and even in archery tournaments. The field point is not like a broad head. The only thing the two have in common is that you may buy them in the same weight. This factor makes them shoot the same.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

Use an archery field point when you set your bow up for hunting or competition shooting. You must use the same weight field point in all of your arrows in order to make your practice more effective. Using different weights throws your arrow off target.

  2. Step 2

Determine what weight works best with your particular bow and arrow by changing the field points from your arrow. Try several different weights of field points and see which one makes your arrow fly the straightest when you use an archery field point.

  3. Step 3

Prepare your bow and arrow when you plan to hunt. If you already have your broad heads selected for hunting, you must practice with the same field point weight as your broad head so that the sights of your bow have the same point of impact as your broad heads.

  4. Step 4

Learn about safety issues when it comes to the use of an archery field point in the sport of archery. Archery tournament participants must use a field point instead of a broad head. Broad heads have cutting blades on the outer sides. A field point is solid with no cutting edges. Most targets in archery tournaments make it difficult to remove a broad head. Broad heads also tear the targets up quicker because of their cutting edges. So, you must use an archery field point during an archery tournament for quick and easy removal from the target.
