Things You'll Need:
- Bow
- Arrow
- Broadhead
-
Step 1
Select a strong broadhead. The purpose of a broadhead is to kill an animal such as a deer, so it's important to use high quality broadheads rather than buying broadheads of lower quality in order to save money.
-
Step 2
Determine how fast your bow is shooting. Newer model compound bows shoot at high speeds and won't work well with heavy broadheads. Older model bows and bows which shoot under 250 feet-per-second work better with heavier heads. You will also need to select the proper broadhead for the kind of game you'll be shooting. The packaging will tell you for what game the broadhead is appropriate.
-
Step 3
Attach the broadhead securely to your arrow so that it won't break off in the air or in the animal.
-
Step 4
Practice using your broadhead on a target before using it for hunting so that you'll be comfortable with it. The practice will also give you a chance to ensure that it will fly straight before you're in a situation where you absolutely must have a perfect shot. If you've selected the wrong weight of broadhead, the arrow won't fly straight, so it's of the utmost importance to practice.
-
Step 5
Spin the broadhead a small amount if it wobbles when you shoot it. This will help to center it on the arrow.
