Instructions

    • 1

Cut your wire to the desired length to hang your glass. If you are attaching the wire at the top of the frame, it should be enough so that it will loop down. If you are doing it in the middle, it should stretch across the middle of the frame.

    • 2

Wrap the copper foil around the ends of the wire. Place the wire down where you want it to attach to the frame. Add flux to the first side.

    • 3

Solder the wire in place using the soldering iron. Be sure that you solder all of the copper leaf to the frame, adding flux as needed.

    • 4

Add flux to the second side and solder the second side into place, adding additional flux as needed. Be sure that you completely melt all of the copper foil to firmly attach your wire.

    • 5

Test to make sure the wire is firmly attached by carefully picking it up and allowing it to hang.

    • 6

Using hooks is an alternative to attaching wire. Select hooks that clip on and file a place to clip your hooks. Slip your hooks onto the frame. Use your soldering iron and solder the hooks into place.

    • 7

Attach wire to the window frame where you will be hanging the window. Place two nails on either side of the frame and stretch a wire across the window, and then hang the stained glass on the wire.

Tips & Warnings

  • Handle the soldering iron carefully, as it will be hot. Never leave the soldering iron on unattended.
