You are ready to paint the sides of your food tray. This is a little more tedious than painting the inside or the back of the food tray. This is a wonderful place to be really creative and add embellishments that bring your food tray to life. Think about what to paint on the sides of your food tray before beginning your project.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Acrylic or latex-based paint
  • Paintbrushes
  1. Step 1

Choose the colors to use to paint the sides of your food tray. Use colors that coordinate with what you have already painted on the front and the back of the food tray. Choose a color that highlights your design and gives it definition.

  2. Step 2

Paint a base coat if you are painting a design. Start by setting the tip of your brush on the bottom of the tray and bring the brush up. This way you won't accidentally paint on your design on the inside of the food tray. Smooth out all the top and bottom edges once you have completed the base coat.

  3. Step 3

Get creative with your painting. Choose a design that matches what you painted on the inside of the tray. If you painted fruit on the inside of the tray, paint tiny pieces of cut fruit all around the sides. Flowers are a beautiful addition to the sides of your tray is there's a floral design painted on the inside of the tray. Adding an ivy vine trellis all the way around the edges adds lots of character to your tray.
