How to Direct Beauty Pageant Awards
The awards portion of a beauty pageant is the culmination of the event for both contestants and audience. Because every contestant is a winner, plan ahead to provide each with at least one award, as well as a gift bag of items appropriate to the age of the contestants.

1
Decide what to give the top winners: trophies or plaques. Both look nice, but need to be ordered ahead of time. Once you establish your budget, you should know how much you have to spend on awards. Remember to order crowns, too.

2
Make a large representation for any scholarships given out. Use the idea of the really big charity check to recognize scholarship recipients. You can make this on the computer for a print shop to print, or draw it freehand on stiff poster board.

3
Give awards to runners up, either a smaller version of the top award or something else to hold. While every contestant will want a framed certificate of participation, runners-up should have an item approximating a scepter. Get creative with awards, even buying small plastic trophies you can personalize.

4
Hand out ribbons for recognitions such as Most Prepared, Most Improved and Miss Congeniality. Have contestants write down what they liked about other contestants and pass these on anonymously to contestants. Whatever ideas you use, make each contestant feel rewarded for the hard work they and their family put into your pageant.
