Step 1
Secure the car on a set of jack stands and remove the wheel. Set the wheel aside and put the lug nuts in your pocket or on a magnetic tray to avoid losing them. Access the inboard bearings by removing the brake rotor.
-
Step 2
Remove the brake caliper by removing the caliper mounting bolts and sliding the caliper off. Allow it to hang carefully in a place out of the way. Now you can remove the brake rotor and, thus, access the inboard wheel bearings.
-
Step 3
Look inside the brake rotor opposite the wheel studs. You will see a hole there, which is where the inboard bearing sits. Wiggle it into place and make sure it is sitting flush against the rotor. Give it a little spin to work the grease around, making sure to coat all around the rotor.
-
Step 4
Place the grease seal down onto the rotor and use a small hammer to pound it into place. It will not go down by itself; it will need a little coaxing with the hammer. To make sure the seal is seated properly, listen for the sound it makes when hammering to change slightly. When it does, you can continue with reinstallation.
