Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Goggles
  • Gloves
  • Wood
  • Vice
  • Planer
  • Cloth
  1. Step 1

Place wood block in vice grip with the desired edge facing upward. Be sure the wood block is secured firmly in the vice before you apply power tools.

  2. Step 2

Hold a power planer in both hands and apply to the wood's edge at a slight tilt. Be sure to start at one edge and go all the way to the other before returning to original position. The idea is to take a sharp edge and flatten it slightly with each pass.

  3. Step 3

Repeat Step 2 three or four times or until the desire depth of bevel is met.

  4. Step 4

Create a rounded beveled edge by passing the power planer across the surface of the wood edge, rocking the planer slightly from side to side as you move it from one edge of the block to the other. Be sure to hold the planer at a slight angle to the wood's surface.

  5. Step 5

Repeat Step 4 in a slightly different spot on the wood edge several times or until the rocking motion of the planer joins the lines together into one continuous rounded edge.

  6. Step 6

Remove wood dust from the wood's surface by wiping it gently with a damp cloth.
