Things You'll Need:
- Hand planer
- Shear form tool
- Shaping stall
-
Step 1
Write down the final desired measurements. Hang it in an easily visible area in order to refer back to the measurements while shaping the surfboard.
-
Step 2
Gather your tools. Put a hand planer and shear form tool on a workbench or space within your reach so you can access them easily during shaping.
-
Step 3
Put the surfboard blank in the shaping stall. At this point, the surfboard blank is standing up in the shaping stall on its side.
-
Step 4
Begin cleaning up the lines on the surfboard at the highest points of the outside edges. It's easiest to start running your hand planer or shear form at the nose or the tail because you have to remove the least amount of material from these areas.
-
Step 5
Finish cleaning the lines of the surfboard by planing the middle of the outside edges.
-
Step 6
Flip the board over to the other side and repeat Step 4 and Step 5.
