How to Dress for a Formal Occasion
If you receive an invitation that says "white tie," or you just want to stand out as the groom at your wedding, you should dress in formal wear. Choose a black tailcoat and coordinating pants. The jacket is short and squared on the sides with two knee-length tails in back. The pants should not be cuffed and have a satin strip running down the outside of each leg.

Wear a white wing color shirt with cuff links.

Tie on a white bow tie around the collar. It should be made of quality cotton.
