Step 1
Visit your local race track and ask about available positions there. While you can't expect to instantly start out as an official, you might find an open position at the track that will keep you around the races.
-
Step 2
Ask local race teams if they need help and explain why you would be a benefit to their team. You'd be surprised how many teams could use a little additional help on race week, but don't advertise the fact because they can't afford to pay for help.
-
Step 3
Offer your services as an intern at the track. You won't get paid for your work, but it will put you up close and personal with the cars and drivers.
-
Step 4
Learn as much as possible about how the Featherlite Modified cars run and how the tracks are operated. The more you learn about the sport, the better you'll be able to help the teams and tracks.
-
Step 5
Accept any position that is offered to you, even if it only involves working in the concession stand. You need to put in the time and work to make it to the next level, and you can't expect to become an official overnight.
-
Step 6
Show your hard work and dedication to the sport as you work your way up through the ranks. If you're a hard worker, your employers will promote you or offer you a positive recommendation when you apply for a job at another track.
-
Step 7
Look for available jobs at the NASCAR website and apply for any that fit your background or expertise. Even if you don't get that job, NASCAR might remember you later when a different job opens up.
