Things You'll Need:
- Demo tape
- Record deal
- Producer
- CD recording of your music
-
Step 1
Create a demo tape of yourself with backup singers and musicians or your own band. Remember that record executives listen to lots of demo tapes, so don't put every song you've ever sung or written on it. Pick your best, work on it, take time getting the recordings just right and send it out.
-
Step 2
Sign a record deal with a record executive and begin working on your first CD. Write songs and then record them. Suffer for your art or at least pretend to. Buy your mom a new house with your record deal money.
-
Step 3
Allow your agent and producers to make you over into a star. Learn the fine art of self-promotion. If you're more beautiful than talented, then promote your style, or in other words; men need to work on having six-pack abs, while women should forgo wearing undergarments. However if you're more talented than beautiful promote your ability and dress as you please.
-
Step 4
Learn dance routines if your voice isn't enough to make people want to see you perform. If the opposite is true, don't worry about routines only concentrate on your music. Go on tour with your band, backup singers and dancers. Learn to live out of suitcase and eat bad food.
-
Step 5
Do interviews with radio disc jockeys in every town and city you go to. Meet fans and get groupies. Fall in love with your bass player and then break up.
-
Step 6
Be surprised when your bosses at the record company tell you that they're going to submit your CD as an entry for this year's Grammy Award. Then act like winning awards really isn't something you care that much about.
-
Step 7
Go to the Grammy Awards ceremony and pretend to be too cool to be as excited as you really are. Act surprised when you win the award and then shed tears while thanking your mom for always being there. Then punch one of the paparazzi before going home.
