Introducing Hawaiian tradition into your wedding ceremony is a fun, practical and romantic option for the couple who wants to add a little flair. You can use Hawaiian wedding traditions as an overall theme or pick a few traditions that have special meaning to the couple. No matter which way you go, adding Hawaiian wedding traditions to your wedding will make it memorable for the newlyweds and the guests.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Leis are a Hawaiian tradition used to show love, respect and appreciation. You can incorporate them into the wedding many ways including presenting them to all in attendance or just the wedding party. You can give out a lei as special recognition of a loved one or someone who was particularly helpful with planning the wedding.

  2. Step 2

Orchids are a special tradition you can use to decorate arches, aisles and tables. Make the flower girl's walk down the aisle memorable by using orchids instead of rose petals. You can even use them in place of a flame by setting them into the oil canister of the tiki torches.

  3. Step 3

Ask guests or the wedding party to wear Hawaiian-themed clothing. Accessorize outfits with leis and flower bracelets. Change out the traditional veil for a head lei made of white flowers for a formal touch.

  4. Step 4

Place the wedding bands into a shell such as oyster or abalone. Craft shops often carry a large assortment of shells in a variety of shapes and colors.

  5. Step 5

Create a circle of flowers for the couple to stand inside when the say their vows. This Hawaiian tradition shows eternal love and a bond that can't be broken. This is one of the most romantic wedding traditions of any culture.

  6. Step 6

Play traditional Hawaiian music, serve Hawaiian drinks and food or have sand brought in to recreate a beach setting. Consider hiring Hawaiian-themed entertainment or a complete luau to complete the special day in a unique and memorable way.
