Gutter Helmet is a brand name for a shield that covers the gutters on your home to protect them from leaves and mud collecting and piling up. With Gutter Helmet, you will be happy not climb up on the ladder on a seasonal basis to clean those nasty trays out anymore. You can pay to have Gutter Helmet installed or with a few directions, easily install it yourself.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Tall ladder (to reach roof)
  • Gutter Helmet pieces
  • Measurements
  • Gutter Helmet clips
  1. Step 1

Measure your gutters to find out how many feet of Gutter Helmet you need to cover all the open gutters. Most gutters are a standard width and Gutter Helmet can cover them all with no problem.

  2. Step 2

Find a dealer near you at gutterhelmet.com or order online from one of the hundreds of dealers who have websites.

  3. Step 3

Clean your roof and gutters before installing your covers. While they are easy to remove, it is best to get this job out of the way and not revisit it for a couple years.

  4. Step 4

Purchase the correct clips for your new gutter protection. You can choose from three different types, depending on the size and shape of your existing gutters. Get a free estimate form a local dealer before you buy them. You won't have to pay for the installation if you do it yourself, but you can use the dealer to measure and tell you what kinds of clips you need.

  5. Step 5

Lean a ladder next to the spot where you will be working. To save time and to remain safe, do this project with another person. Your helper can hand you up the pre-cut Gutter Helmet pieces as you climb and clip them into place. Since these pieces can only connect to the house in one way, they are very easy to mount.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be careful when using a ladder and make sure you place on it a firm and secure area to avoid accidents.
