Yahoo Answers connects you with people on a global level to get your questions answered. A person posts a question and then users log on to give their best answer. Anyone can answer questions through Yahoo Answers.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Go to the Yahoo Answers homepage. At the menu section of the page, you'll find a "Get Started" link.

  2. Step 2

Sign in with your Yahoo ID. If you've ever registered with Yahoo, then you have a Yahoo username and password. Otherwise, you'll have to create a new account. To sign up, give your name, email address and create a new username and password.

  3. Step 3

Adjust your settings. Prior to answering questions on Yahoo Answers, you'll need to create your account settings. Choose a display name, a picture or avatar, and a reply-to email address. Set your privacy settings to control whether or not users can contact you.

  4. Step 4

Click the "Answer" tab. After setting up your Yahoo Answers account, you can begin answering user posted questions. You'll get redirected to all the open questions currently on the site. You can then choose a category to see more refined results.

  5. Step 5

Select an open question you want to answer. After reading the question, you'll see an "Answer This Question" link. Type your answer in the box and then send it. It should appear on the question's page within a few minutes.

on 10/28/2009 I just tried to answer a question asked only yesterday, which was noted as being "Unresolved," yet there was no ANSWER button.

Can you only answer Qs the same day they're asked?

That's kind of insane. If it were an ongoing thing, and if the asker was notifed when new answers happened, even if they'd already chosen a best answer, after whatever time period they require you to wait to choose that, it could be an ongoing-ly useful feature at Yahoo, so, ideally, THE best answer would appear as the "winner," always, for all questions. This way, instead, it's like an out of date newspaper's editorial page. Way less interesting / useful. ... no?

on 12/26/2008 You can only answer unanswered questions! You can not give a better answer to a question with an inadequate answer.
