Thoughts of fall often bring to mind the changing of leaves and beautiful autumn color. Some people like to change their home décor with the season, and a simple way to do this is with a floral arrangement. Bring the colors of fall indoors with a fresh floral pumpkin centerpiece.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Select a pumpkin that's proportional to your table's size. Try a white pumpkin for something a little different.

  2. Step 2

Cut open the pumpkin and remove the seeds, just as you would when making a jack-o-lantern. Remove the top and scoop out the seeds and pulp. An ice cream scoop works well for this.

  3. Step 3

Take a piece of floral foam, or oasis, and cut it to fit inside the pumpkin. Soak it in water until it's waterlogged. Then, insert the oasis into the pumpkin centerpiece.

  4. Step 4

Select fresh, in-season flowers from a florist, the grocery store's floral department or even the back yard. Some lovely fall flowers include mums, hydrangeas, mini calla lilies and roses.

  5. Step 5

Trim the ends of your flowers before you insert them into the floral foam so they'll last longer. Use an informal arrangement for a fall look. Trail a vine of ivy down the side of the pumpkin for a finishing touch.

Tips & Warnings
  • You could also carve the pumpkin into a basket. Tape off about halfway up around the middle where the rim will be, then tape off where the handle will be. Carve out these areas, then scoop out the insides of the pumpkin as usual.
