Things You'll Need:

  • Carrier oil
  • Your choice of essential oil(s)
  1. Step 1

Make a soothing moisturizing oil, adding your choice of essential oils to help keep the skin hydrated and reduce itching. Quality carrier oils for skin care include almond oil, olive oil, avocado oil and grape seed oil. Your healing oils can be massaged over the entire body, or directly over affected areas two or three times a day.

  2. Step 2

Soothe itching skin with a relaxing and healing bath. Simply add 10 to 15 drops of your chosen essential oils or oils to warm bath water and soak for at least 15 minutes.

  3. Step 3

Test a patch of skin for sensitivity to essential oils before applying to larger areas. If you see no reaction after 24 hours, you can safely use the essential oil in a variety of topical treatments.

  4. Step 4

Relieve itching due to dry skin, healing burns, bug bites, chicken pox and more by using hydrating essential oils. Hydrating essential oils include rose, carrot seed, jasmine, lavender, neroli, sandalwood and geranium.

  5. Step 5

Treat itching caused by eczema with regular application of your healing oil and warm baths. Helpful essential oils for eczema include chamomile, juniper, yarrow, patchouli, tea tree, bergamot and carrot seed.

  6. Step 6

Get relieve from psoriasis, a particularly difficult to treat skin condition with regular baths and oil application including essential oils such as bergamot, carrot seed, tea tree, juniper, sandalwood and lavender.

Tips & Warnings
  • Some essential oils can increase skin sensitivity to the sun. Always apply a minimum 30 SPF sunscreen after using topical essential oil treatments.
  • Because certain essential oils have contraindications, discuss your essential oil purchases with a qualified employee at the store where you purchase oils if you have a medical condition.
