Step 1
Pour several drops of oil into the palm of one hand. Rub your two hands together, coating them with oil, the same way that you would if you were applying hand lotion. The oil not only helps your hands to move smoothly over each other during the massage, but rubbing them together with the oil also helps to increase circulation to your hands.
-
Step 2
Place your left hand on the towel in your lap with the palm facing down. Use your right hand to gently grasp each finger at the base and pull on it to stretch the joints. Be careful not to pull too hard that you cause the joints to pop. Then massage each finger joint crosswise.
-
Step 3
Turn your left hand over in your lap so the palm is facing up. Use the four fingers on your right hand to support your left hand, while using the thumb of your right hand to massage your left palm in circular motions. Use mild pressure while massaging in clockwise and then counterclockwise circles. Continue until you have massaged the entire palm.
-
Step 4
Continue using your right thumb to massage in long strokes from the point between each finger toward your left wrist. Stroke between the long bones in your hand, not on top of them. Increase the amount of pressure applied with each stroke.
-
Step 5
Make your right hand into a fist and rest your curled fingers on the palm of your left hand. Use your right thumb to give extra massage to the area of your hand between your thumb and index finger. Rub the muscular area between the thumb and index finger for a couple of minutes.
-
Step 6
Flip your left hand back over so the palm is facing down in your lap again. Finish the massage on your left hand, by using the fingers of your right hand to massage the top of your left hand crosswise. Massage along the outside of the left hand as well.
-
Step 7
Put your right hand on the towel in your lap, palm down, and repeat the hand massage steps using your left hand to massage your right hand.
