Perhaps you are tired of the patterns available to you in Photoshop and wish to make your own. This eHow will help you create your own custom pattern in Photoshop and save it.

Create your own custom pattern from an existing image or just a portion of it. For just a portion of the image, select the portion you wish with the rectangular "Marquee" tool. Make sure your feather is set at zero. You will find this setting on the Options Bar.

Go to the Menu, and click on "Edit>Define Pattern." The Pattern Name box should open.

Give your new custom pattern a name and then click OK to save it.

Look for your new custom pattern in the Pattern pop-up palette list.

Use the "Pattern Stamp" tool, the "Paint Bucket" tool, the "Healing Brush" tool, the "Patch" tool, or the "Layer Style" dialogue box with any pattern, including the new custom pattern you have saved.

Change or modify your custom pattern in whatever configuration you choose, and rename each file so you can pull it up again.
