Google is one of the most popular search engines available on the Internet. Most people are familiar with the possible searches, such and keyword, image and news. However, you may not realize that Google offers many fun tricks, often called hacks. Follow the steps below to hack Google and obtain better search results.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
Repeat the search terms that you use in Google two to three times, rather than just once, to get different search results.
Step2
Enter your keywords in the Google search bar and hit enter. Now add "&as_qdr=d" to the end of the search URL in the address bar and hit enter again. This will provide a pull down menu, giving you the option to sort your search results by date.
Step3
Find your keywords on a specific website. Put your keywords in quotation marks in the Google search bar, and follow that with the phrase "site: websitename.com" (substitute the name of the website where "websitename" is), and hit "Enter."
Step4
Discover alternatives that are better than the item you're searching for. For example, if you want something better than pizza, enter "better than pizza" (with the quotation marks) in the Google search bar. Google will provide websites that have items believed to be better than pizza.
Step5
View a blocked webpage by entering "cache: websitename.com." This will pull up the snapshot of the webpage that Google took while filtering through the Internet.
Step6
Search only for music files by entering the following text in the Google search bar: -inurl:(htm|html|php) intitle:"index of" +"last modified" +"parent directory" +description +size +(wma|mp3) "Switchfoot". Substitute the band or song name you want in the "Switchfoot" location.

on 5/30/2008 Not exactly "hacks," but features that Google have. In any case, helpful at times!
