Losing weight and keeping it off is hard to do, but many people have had success using the Weight Watchers Flex Point System. The system gives you a set number of points that estimate the amount of food you should eat in a day. All foods have a point value, and as long as you consume your daily point value or less, you lose weight.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

Determine your allotted number of daily points. Your daily point target is decided by a number of factors including your age, weight, sex and height. Go to Weight Watchers online to find a local meeting, or sign up to do the diet from the website (see Resources below). Both will help you determine your daily points target.

  2. Step 2

Find out the point values of foods. Use the Weight Watchers online service or purchase books from a Weight Watchers meeting. In addition to the website and books, if you join Weight Watchers you get a slide rule to help you determine the point value of any food. The slide works by considering the number of calories, fat grams and fiber grams in a given food to determine its point value.

  3. Step 3

Stick to the diet and stay within your daily points allocation. Use your points however you like, but try to maintain a balanced diet. Include plenty of lean protein, fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grains.

  4. Step 4

Exercise to add to your daily points allotment. Use the Weight Watchers website to find out how much a particular exercise is worth. In addition to the website, there is a slide rule that helps determine the point value of a given exercise. This slide rule calculates the value of a given exercise based on your weight and the intensity and duration of your workout.
