Whether you're grilling steaks, veggie burgers or chicken, a gas grill is the appliance to have--until you have to clean it off. Cleaning doesn't have to be a pain if you take a few moments before and after cooking with your gas grill.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Peanut oil
  • Oven cleaner
  • Brass-wire bristle brush

Step1
Wipe dirt and grime off the hood before you cook. Otherwise you wind up with baked, hard dirt that takes more elbow grease to remove.
Step2
Spray the grates of your gas grill with peanut oil before turning on the heat. The oil will make it easier to wipe the grill clean afterwards.
Step3
Heat the grill on high for 5 to 10 minutes to char any bits of food left on the grate. Then scrape it off with a brass-wire bristle brush.
Step4
Turn off the gas flame and spray the grill with oven cleaner. Leave it on as long as the directions on the can recommend, then wipe the grill clean. This removes tougher stains.
Step5
Cover the grids with heavy duty aluminium foil, then turn up the heat for 10 minutes. This turns dirt and food to ash you can brush off once the grids cool.
