Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Chicken
  • Buttermilk
  • Assorted spices
  • Flour
  1. Step 1

Cut the chicken up that you are going to be frying. Smaller pieces cook faster and less grease is absorbed because of the shorter cooking times.

  2. Step 2

Wash the chicken thoroughly. This helps eliminate any bone fragments that remain from cutting the chicken up or anything else that would make the fried chicken unappealing.

  3. Step 3

Soak the chicken in buttermilk for several hours. It can even sit in the refrigerator overnight. This process makes the chicken very moist.

  4. Step 4

Season the chicken itself with salt and pepper first. Do this even before you dredge the chicken pieces in flour.

  5. Step 5

Mix up flour with your choice of seasonings. Many favorites are onion powder, salt, pepper, paprika, sage, parsley and thyme. Try different combinations each time you make fried chicken, making sure you write down your recipe, until you find one that suits your taste buds best.

  6. Step 6

Dredge each piece of chicken in the seasoned flour. Cover each piece thoroughly with the flour.

  7. Step 7

Dunk the dredged chicken in milk. Then dredge each piece in the seasoned flour once again. Now it is ready for frying.
