Wear a hat to lessen the effect of the sun on your freckle outbreak. Sensitive, light skin is more susceptible to freckles under ultra-violet light. Sunblock also can help reduce freckle flare-ups.

Look for role models who live with their freckles proudly. Find pictures of models and actors who have freckles and don't use a lot of makeup to cover them up. Once you find someone with whom you can relate to, it may be easier to accept your own skin.

Recognize your freckles as sign of health and vitality. Years ago, freckles were considered very low class and unsightly. Now, they are seen as fashionable and a sign that the freckled are outdoorsy folks with glowing skin.

Try a skin lightener if your freckles are very dark and you can't make peace with them. Many varieties are on the market that will lighten your skin all over and fade the freckles as well.

Find a cover-up that is one shade darker than your own skin color if you prefer to use makeup to cope with your freckles. You want the foundation to blend in so that you don't look like you have it on. Wet a sponge to apply face makeup and blend it to your hairline. Use light strokes to feather the line at your jaw and under your chin so you don't have a definitive line where the makeup stops.
