How to Make a Centerpiece With Fresh and Fake Flowers
A bouquet of flowers is always pleasing to the eye and it really dresses up a dining room table or buffet table. However, large arrangements of fresh flowers can be expensive. To create a luxurious floral centerpiece without a hefty price tag, mix and match fake and fresh flowers. Your guests will never be the wiser to your budget-friendly decorating tip.

Purchase good quality fake flowers. Look for petals and leaves with realistic veins on them. The best fake flowers for this centerpiece are large blossoms, like peonies or dahlias in one or two bold colors. Sunflowers also work well for a late summer-early autumn centerpiece.

Buy an assortment of inexpensive fresh flowers, such as carnations and daisies. Pick up a few expensive fresh blooms that match the fake ones you bought. Three or four real flowers will be enough to add a realistic touch to your centerpiece.

Select a ceramic pitcher or other wide-mouthed vessel for a vase. Make a grid on the top of the pitcher using florists tape. This will help keep the flowers from falling over one another.

Trim the fresh flowers to correct height for you vase. Trim the fake flowers with a pair of wire snips.

Start with the biggest blossoms first, tucking them into the vase. Fill in with smaller flowers and greenery, turning the vase as you go, to fill in bare spots.
