Paper snowflakes are a kids' crafts staple. Make them by folding a square piece of paper several times and cutting out small shapes long the edges and folds. Once you've got a stack of finished designs, put them to good use. Decorate your house with the pretty shapes as a festive, frosty touch.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Paper
  • Scissors
  • Tape
  • Pipe cleaners
  • Hole punch
  • Ribbon
  1. Step 1

Layer the snowflakes into a wreath. Cut a transparency into an open circle to create a nearly invisible background. Use spray adhesive or double-stick tape to affix the snowflakes to the form.

  2. Step 2

Affix clusters of small snowflakes to the corners of windows with small pieces of tape you can easily remove. You can even create a pattern with them or form a large snowflake shape with the smaller versions. Also add a few to your car windows.

  3. Step 3

Use white pipe cleaners to poke holes through the center of each snowflake to make a "stem." Stack several flakes on each pipe cleaner and gather a bunch in a narrow vase as a cute centerpiece.

  4. Step 4

Gather a handful of different snowflake designs and fill pretty silver bowls to distribute throughout the house or serve as table decorations.

  5. Step 5

String several paper snowflakes together on a length of ribbon or bead chain and use the strands to decorate a fireplace mantel or windowsill. You can also hang a few from the ceiling or door frames.

Tips & Warnings
  • Dress up plain snowflakes by cutting them from colored paper, foil, flocked cardstock or sheer vellum. Decorate the paper with glitter glue, small stickers or color paper with paint, crayons or colored pencils before cutting into snowflakes.
  • If the paper you use to make the snowflakes is thin, liquid glue may seep through or cause it to warp.
