Your butt is one of the main storage areas for fat, which is why it is so difficult to make it smaller. This is especially true for women. However, it is not a hopeless situation. There are a few things you can do to make your butt smaller if you are willing to put forth the effort.
Eat the right foods. Unburned calories often go straight to your butt in the form of fat. If you want to make your butt smaller, do not eat more calories than you burn. Avoid simple carbohydrates such as potatoes, pastas and rice. Reduce the amount of brown carbohydrates such as brown rice, whole grain breads and whole grain pastas after lunch. Fill your afternoon meals and snacks with lean proteins and leafy greens instead.
Do the right amount of cardio to make your butt smaller. Do at least five to six 45 to 55 minute sessions of cardio per week. Your cardio needs to be challenging and needs to increase in intensity as your workout progresses.
Add a resistance training program to your workout. Focus on working out your entire body instead of just your butt. This helps increase your overall metabolism and helps bring your butt into proportion. In addition to your full-body workout, include plenty of lunges and squats. These help break down the fat and muscle in your butt. Begin with 12 to 15 reps per set and gradually work your way up to 20 to 25 reps per set.
