Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Large hamburger buns
  • Hot dogs
  • Sharp knife
  • Cutting board
  • Butter, softened
  • Ketchup
  • Mayonnaise
  • Pickle relish
  • Mustard
  1. Step 1

Cut each hot dog lengthwise into several long, thin slices with a sharp knife.

  2. Step 2

Score each hot dog strip about three times with the tip of the knife, but be careful not to cut clear through the hot dog.

  3. Step 3

Cook the hot dog strips in the microwave or in boiling water until they begin to curl.

  4. Step 4

Spread a small amount of butter on each hamburger bun and place the buns on a baking sheet. Place the buns under the oven broiler for a few seconds, until they're lightly toasted. Watch carefully, because the broiler will turn the buns from toasted to burned very quickly.

  5. Step 5

Put several hot dog "worms" on each hot bun and arrange them on a large platter.

  6. Step 6

Serve the worms on a bun with ketchup, mayonnaise, mustard, pickle relish or any other condiments you desire.

Tips & Warnings
  • Worms on a bun can also be made with chicken or turkey hot dogs. If you are vegetarian, make worms on a bun with some meat-free hot dogs.
