Hair can become damaged quickly with exposure to the sun, daily styling and chemical beauty products. If you have light brown or blond hair, then you well know that any form of damage quickly makes your hair appear brassy and may even increase breakage and split ends. A few tips can help you to cool the brass and fix your damaged hair.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • Leave-in conditioner with UV protection
  • Hair mask
  • Henna dye
  • Gentle shampoo and quality conditioner
  • Natural bristled brush

Step1
Prevent further damage to brassy hair by using a leave-in conditioner that contains UV protection, rinsing your hair after swimming in chlorinated pools or salt water and stop using curling irons, blow driers and other heated styling tools.
Step2
Use a once a week hair mask. These thick creams are usually left on the hair for 30 to 60 minutes and help to smooth the cuticles while feeding essential vitamins and proteins into the hair, reducing damage and breakage.
Step3
Dye your hair with a natural henna dye, which not only helps to condition damaged brassy locks, but will also help to restore a more natural color. Henna is made from all natural ingredients and comes in very natural colors so that you can match your natural hair color as closely as possible. Henna generally only lasts for a few months, so you may need to reapply; however, you will not need to worry about excess damage, as there are no harsh chemical ingredients.
Step4
Love your hair, using a gentle shampoo and quality conditioner everyday. Wash your hair in cold water, as hot water strips the natural oils which protect your hair from damage. Allow your hair to air dry before combing or brushing, and use a natural bristled brush to prevent excess breaking.
