Mix up some dry, uncooked grits with a bit of cinnamon spice when you want to kill ants in your yard or garden. Sprinkle the mixture around the edges of the ant hill. The ants eat the mixture and take some back inside the colony. The grits swell up inside the ants and they explode. Put a fresh mixture of grits and cinnamon out on your ant hills after a rain. Fill a squirt bottle with vinegar when ants invade your house. Squirt vinegar on your kitchen counters, inside your cabinets and around doors and windowsills. If you know where they are coming in, spray that area well also. Go outside and spray vinegar around your door and window casings. Allow the vinegar to dry. The smell goes away after only a few minutes, but the vinegar is strong enough to repel ants and kill any ants that try to come in.

Place a bowl of honey on your kitchen countertops or in any other area where you see ants coming in and out. The honey attracts the ants. They climb into the bowl to eat the honey.
