The benefits of a colon cleanse are varied. The fact is that many people could be carrying many pounds of waste in their colons, and could benefit their entire digestive system with a ten day colon cleanse. The fasting portion of the colon cleans is not always necessary, but when you do a colon cleanse and continue eating junk, it is much less effective.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Fresh lemon juice from 1/2 lemon
  • 2 tbsp. Organic maple syrup, grade B
  • Small pinch cayenne pepper
  • 10 to 14 oz pure drinking water
  • Uniodized salt
  • Bentonite or Psyllium seeds
  • Herbal laxative tea bags or leaves
  1. Step 1

Drink a lemon juice drink with fresh lemon, organic maple syrup, cayenne pepper and pure drinking water every 1 to 2 hours. This has nutrients and will help to cleanse your colon and by consuming this lemon drink without food for 10 days helps prevent you from reintroducing colon clogging foods into your system until it is fully cleaned out.

  2. Step 2

Make a point to drink lots of purified water along with the lemon drink for 10 days. The water keeps you hydrated and has a filling effect on the stomach.

  3. Step 3

Perform a salt water flush every morning for the entire ten-day colon cleanse cycle. Every morning add 2 tsp. of uniodized salt to a quart of warm water and drink it all. This flush helps to cleanse your colon from the moment you wake up in the morning.

  4. Step 4

Take Bentonite or Psyllium seeds along with the lemon juice drink to help with your colon cleanse if you feel you aren't getting the full benefit of lemon juice alone.

  5. Step 5

Use an herbal laxative tea every evening before you go to bed. These usually contain Rooibus and help with elimination within 8 to 10 hours of drinking.

  6. Step 6

Return to food slowly after the ten-day colon cleanse. Begin your first day with vegetable broths and lots of water, and keep in mind as you incorporate heartier foods back into your diet that you stay away from junk foods that can clog your system once again.

on 6/12/2009 This article uses a combination of the "Master Cleanse" by Stanley Burroughs with other information I have never heard of. The "Master Cleanse" recommends an herbal laxative (it does not mention salt however) but the herb mention not only is misspelled (rooibos) but is not an herb recommended for its laxative effect like Senna or cascara sagrada.
