Curing an online shopping habit may not be as easy as you think. It takes strength and will power. If you work on a computer throughout the day, then this task can be even harder. However, you can cure the habit though, but you will need to know that you might relapse at times and other times you will move steps ahead to freedom.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Keep to your work. If you work on a computer from your home office or at an office, then make sure you keep only to your work. Do not do Google searches and research unless work related. Keep a little paper on your desk saying "You can cure the habit."
Step2
Be strong and also ask for help. If you feel that you are about to head to the computer to do some online shopping, then call a friend instead. Keep distracted by doing things away from the computer.
Step3
Keep your credit cards somewhere other than your wallet. Sometimes we take credit for granted and we just use our cards to buy things offline and online. Keep disciplined by keeping the cards far away.
Step4
Cure the habit by doing outdoor activities. If you are away from the computer and from being inside, then you will have less of a temptation to shop online.
Step5
Get someone to support you when you are working on the computer. You may feel watched at first, but once you start avoiding shopping websites, you will feel more confident to do it on your own.

Tips & Warnings

  • Ask yourself if you really need this item, or if it's just an impulse buy because you're bored. Think about the shipping prices and ask yourself if it is really worth it, or if you can find the same item in a local store.
  • Clear out your bookmarks of your shopping sites so you can't easily return back.
